Pon el "Netflix" *in spanish accent*

"Pon los subtítulos, sólo porque hablas inglés tú no significa que tu familia también..."

Many times when watching movies with my family there would need to be spanish subtitles on the screen or if possible a complete change in the language of the movie.

I always felt underrepresented in shows that weren't in, Univision, Telemundo and a few others.

Try and think of the last movie you saw where you or your culture felt truly represented... do you have one? Because I didn't have one for a very long time. Even now there is only a few Lantinx members in movies and shows... however, Netflix has an abundance of shows that represent the Latinx community.

Netflix has taken over the streaming system and along with that they have come out with amazing Netflix originals. I am always looking for shows that can represent my culture and the culture of other countries.

For this post I wanted to include 10 shows that can be found on Netflix;

El Barco

La Reina del Sur

The Day I Met El Chapo

Celia

Diablero

La Piloto

I hope that more shows are created by Netflix that have more Latinx countries than what they currently have. As for T.V. today, I hope more T.V. networks realize the amazing culture that is Latinx. I hope they see and add characters to their already existing shows to bring more diversity and a better dynamic.

I challenge you to watch one of these shows, at least one episode with English subtitles. Leave the show in the original language. Put on some comfy clothes, get comfortable, grab some snacks and watch a show in the beautiful language that spanish is. It will be uncomfortable to the ear as you hear a different language and have to read subtitles; however, I hope that you can embrace the uncomfortable difference that this challenge will be.

I hope you can enjoy one of these shows!
