The Beauties of México

Writer's picture: Nancy Ruby Plascencia Nancy Ruby Plascencia

Have you ever been to México?

I frequently have been able to travel to México many times to visit family. I, unfortunately, I have not yet been to other Latinx countries so, for this blog post, I am going to tell you all about the places I have been to in Mexico. My family is originally from the state of Jalisco, Mexico so all the places I mention will be in the state of Jalisco.

Guadalajara, JAL, Mexico

I couldn't start this with anything other than Guadalajara itself. Pictured is, El Palacio de Gobierno del Estado de Jalisco translated to the government's palace for the state of Jalisco. The building itself is beautiful and the picture shown to the left is from within the palace. Here you can see how the building is wrapped by a balcony. In the picture, you can also see the cathedral, which is pictured to the bottom left. In the middle is a photograph of a monument that honors many native to Guadalajara. The last picture was taken at was is called, "Mercado Bola" which is essentially a huge building where people go to buy goods and eat sort of like a flea market just with more people.

Tequila, JAL, Mexico

If you enjoy Tequila this is the place to go. Tequila, JAL is known for just that, Tequila. While on our one day trip to Tequila we went on a Tequila distillery tour that was extremely fun. They showed us how Tequila was made and in the end, gave us so many tequila samples and margaritas which was one of my favorite parts. (the drinking age for Mexico is 18). The town of Tequila is also known as a magical town meaning that history is rich and filled with myths and legends. In the center, there are also men doing a traditional dance that requires them to climb a tall pole and then hang off of it attached only by a rope on their foot as the spin. All of these pictures are around the center of the town.

Chapala, JAL, Mexico

Chapala has Mexico's largest freshwater lake. It was a port city where many people also came to fish. If you are a seafood fanatic Chapala is where it's at. On our one day excursion to Chapala, the weather was nice that we decided to take a small boat to, "La Isla de Los Alacranbes", which translates to the Island of Scorpians. On our way back from the Island there was what looked like a tornado in the last picture. Let just say that the travel back to Chapala was exhilarating.

Tlaquepaque, JAL, Mexico

Tlaquepaque was probably one of my personal favorite places to go. We went the day before we came back home. Tlaquepaque had some of the most culturally beautiful handcrafts. They also had this little street with umbrellas that is perfect for pictures. The colors so vibrant and add to the magical feel of the town. Tlaquepaque is also known for its Mariachi. The first picture at the bottom is where many people gather to listen to the beautiful music this place gets especially filled with life and dance at night.

I love these photographs!!! I like that you kept a common color scheme going. I'm not sure if you've been to other parts of MEX, either way I thought it was a great idea to start of with your home state and all the treasures it has!

Now, New Mexico, I am favorite of mexican foods, what a way to top it off with margarita's and tequila or good vintage wine and the sweet kind. I like the serenity of the town, it too reminds me of the great escape! Nice blogs!
